Artist: Simone Labuschargne
A great musician and writer, John Lennon, penned the phrase “Nobody told me there'd be
days like these” back in the early 1980’s when the world was in an unsettled state. The
world is often in such a state and the body of work presented has been created in just such a
setting.
Artist Simone Labuschagne presents a wide range of mood and subject from sun lit
beaches to brooding figures - almost from another time. Her landscapes are evocative with
rock strewn barrens and ancient fields. Her figures are compelling and engaged with the
viewer. Both subjects layered upon each other harkening back to layers of land or layers of
time.
This eclectic group of paintings makes reference to the unpredictable nature of everyday life
and of life in general these interesting times. These days are the gifts we are given and
they are indeed beautiful and strange.
