Pugwash Artist Collective – Ripple Effect

Opening reception – July 21, 7pm

Ripple Effect: An impact that disturbs the status quo – pushes boundaries, blurs lines, alters perception, if only for a fleeting moment. It is the mission of good art to ripple complacent thinking, effectively.

Creating art starts with a notion, an inspiration, an idea that circles through tangents, ripples of imagination, begging us to pull just one loop of fabric through linen, to throw clay on a wheel, to drop one drop of paint on a canvas, and see where that leads us.

We chose the theme, Ripple Effect, not only as it pertains to individual artistic process, but in response to the interactions of our group, how the work of one artist may impact and influence another. Each artist is so different from the other, the influences occur in subtle ways. Coming together with the intention to share — a meal, community news, the evolution of a work in progress — causes a ripple of excitement that travels through all of us, opening the inner pathways, possibilities. Ripple effects abound….
